Lot's of Nathan

He's Smiling

Nathan's new thing this week is smiling! He's so funny, he kinda laughs now too! He smiles at us, the pictures on the wall, when he nurses, and even when he sleeps.

This last week Nathan got to meet several more family members. He met his Uncle Jonathan, his great Aunt Donna (who made him a cute Raggedy Andy doll)He also met his Papa Keith, and his great Grandpa Jack. Everyone fell in love with him, and how could you not :)

Nathan also had his first babysitting experience this week with Papa P, and Grandma DeeDee. I had a dentist appt.(ugg!)and they offered to babysit. Papa and Grandma have been waiting for the day that I left Nathan with them, and it went really well. I have been pumping breast milk in case I needed to be away from Nathan and He got to try out his new fancy bottles. It's funny, all the books I have read say not to introduce artificial nipples before six weeks because the baby can get confused. Well Nathan had absolutely no confusion, it tastes like mama, but that's not mama!

Billy and I took Nathan to his first Fair yesterday. It was nice to get out in the sunshine and out of the house. I just love small country Fair's and Billy and I were daydreaming about Nathan being old enough to be in 4H and enter something in the fair.

Funny Faces

4 weeks

I can't belive our baby is 4 weeks old today! WOW time flies before I know it he'll 16. Nathan and I are finally starting to get each other figured out. It's been challenging trying to understand what each cry means or why he's fussy, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. Probably next week he'll change it all up and I'll have to figure it out again. I have also figured out his routine. It doesn't quite happen at the same time every day but his sleep/wake cycles follow a pattern, which is kinda nice so I know what to expect at diffent points of the day. Nathan also seems to look different everyday, maybe it's me but I can almost see him growing! He's got the cutest double chin!

Happy Grandma

Snack Time

I love breastfeeding Nathan, I think it is absoultly the best thing I can do for him. But he's going through a growth spurt right now and is eating every two hours. I'm starting to feel like an all-you-can-eat-buffett, either that or a milk cow! I think I'll change my name to Mabel and start wearing a bell around my neck!

3 weeks old

Our boy is growing! I can't belive how strong he is, just like his daddy! Since Nathan was born he has been able to army crawl, and lift his head and chest up, and just the other day he rolled over on the bed. I just can't belive how strong he is. Grandma Jackie says that the only other baby she has seen that was this strong was my brother Joel.

We went to Spokane this last week to visit Great Grandma Emma, and she just loved meeting Nathan. She thought it was funny how eager Nathan is when he eats, she say's "you can hear him clear across the room, that boy likes his milk!"

So Tired!

Billy and I are like walking zombies!!! We try to sleep when Nathan does, but usually when we are tired, Nathan is wide awake, and when Nathan is tired we are not. Billy and I were talking about how some day, when Nathan is sleeping through the night(probably when he is 16) we will look back on this time and laugh about how tired we were.....I can't wait till then!

Growing Boy!

Head: 14in
Length: 22 1/4in
Weight: 7lbs 6oz

We went in for our two week check up the other day and Nathan grew 2 1/4 inches! Holy cow! I thought maybe he had just unfolded and stretched out since birth. But the doc assured me that he really grew that much.

We have to go get more blood work done today, I guess the PKU they did at his birth didn't get good results so they have to draw more blood. I think I'll let Billy hold Nathan because it breaks my heart to hear him cry. Last time they did this test Nathan's foot was bruised black and blue for a week. I'm not too thrilled that we have to do this test again.

I am slowly feeling better. It feels so good to be back on my feet again. After 5 weeks of bed rest and two weeks of recovery, I'm ready to get moving! Billy is not enjoying having to go back to work. He just misses us! But today we have the day together and we are going to spend it loving on this little boy.

Sleep

Well Nathan sleeps great and only wakes every 2-4 hrs, but I am hearing every little squeek and snore he makes, and I can't sleep at all. With all of his squeeking he reminds me of the little mouse on the movie Dumbo. :)

Just me and Nathan

Well Billy had to go back to work today :( and Nathan and I are already missing him. Nathan is just a wonderful baby, and I'm very greatful that he is eating and sleeping well. I am feeling much better and have even run a few erronds around town. Tonight we are going to meet daddy for his lunch break and have dinner as a family.
